The strategic forks
Five decisions, made and written down before you touch a setting. Making them explicit is what separates a six-week migration from a six-month one.
| 1 · Data home | xdm vs data vs hybrid, hybrid, weighted to xdm |
| 2 · Report suite | validation suite first; real RSID only at cutover |
| 3 · Profile | leave OFF; enable later, deliberately |
| 4 · Data layer | keep and map your existing layer |
| 5 · Library load | Tags extension + first-party CNAME edge domain |
Alongside these sits the rollout approach: parallel-validate, then phase page-by-page (the hybrid). A big-bang cutover of a large estate concentrates every risk into one irreversible moment and is best avoided.
For your migration: the output is a one-page "migration profile" your whole inventory and plan refer back to. Decisions deferred here resurface as rework later.
